Christian Mason unveils new compositions in two CD releases this October

October 2020 sees the exciting double release of two new CDs from composer Christian Mason after working closely with the Ligeti Quartet and Ensemble Recherche.

Born out of a long-standing collaboration between Ligeti Quartet and Mason, the Songbooks vol. 1 CD is their first joint release for the nonclassical label. It explores the way in which the acoustic properties of the string quartet emulate the human voice through Mason’s use of extended techniques and unique sound-worlds. The result is an album of thrillingly direct and toe-tappingly exciting music which is profoundly influenced by the traditional songs of Tuva and Sardinia. Zwischen Den Sternem (Between the Stars) is the result of an intensive exchange with the musicians of Ensemble Recherche with Winter & Winter. It was released on the 23rd October. Listen to it on Spotify now!
