The premier of Christian Mason’s Shadowy Fish, was performed at the first of Renaud Capuçon‘s ‘Nouveaux Horizons’ concert series at the Grand Théâtre de Provence, Aix-en-Provence on the 16th October. The three-day concert series gave pride of place to young creation by inviting ten composers, including Christian Mason, to present their musical works.

Mason’s instrumentation of his new work took inspiration from Schubert’s famous ‘Trout’ Quintet, which was also featured in the concert’s programme in addition to works by Schumann and French composer, Benjamin Attahir.
