The Notos Quartett give UK Premiere of Bartók’s Piano Quartet at Wigmore Hall
The Notos Quartett return to London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall on Thursday, 2 May (19:30) for a special concert featuring the UK premiere of Bartók’s Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 20 alongside Brahms’s renowned Piano Quartet no. 3 in C minor, Op. 60 and the eclectic Divertissement for String Trio and Piano by Françaix.
The quartet, dedicated in its work to re-discovering long forgotten musical gems, are the only group to hold a copy of the Bartók manuscript and to have recorded the work, on their 2018 CD, Hungarian Treasures, for Sony Classical.
You can listen to a sneak peek of the Bartók here or the whole work by purchasing here or streaming here.
In case you can’t make it to Wigmore, there’s also the chance to catch the quartet live on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune today (1 May) from 17:00 (GMT). They’ll be discussing their latest CD, their exciting year of tours, and the Bartók’s UK premiere.
