Julien Leroy returns to lead Klangforum Wien this week

 

Julien Leroy returns to lead contemporary music forerunners Klangforum Wien this week in two concerts at Acht Brücken Festival, Cologne on 2 May, and at Konzerthaus Wien on 10 May.

The programme will include world premieres of Scar by Ernst von Siemens prizewinner Rebecca Saunders, and Schmutz from Ying Wang, as well as works by Georges Aperghis, and Friedrich Cerha. You can catch a clip of the Schmutz here.

Julien Leroy, a protégé of Pierre Boulez, was the assistant to Suzanna Mälkki and Matthias Pintscher at the Ensemble InterContemporain, which he now conducts on a regular basis. Following this project with Klangforum Wien, he will return to lead Ensemble InterContemporain as part of the Prague Spring International Music Festival on 27 May.
