CLB Management's 2019 Christmas Highlights: Singers

 

Continuing our Autumn 2019 highlights series, we have our Singers!

This Autumn, tenor Ben Johnson embarked on a national tour of Ireland with guitarist Sean Shibe, presenting a programme of love songs spanning five centuries, including a new commission by Irish composer Brian Bolger.

Ben and Sean released an interview for GoldenPlec Music Magazine.

Next year, Ben will interpret Flute in Britten’s A Midsummer Night's Dream at The Grange Festival (6-24 June), and Eumete in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (The Return of Ulysses) at the Longborough Festival Opera (14-21 July).

After receiving critical acclaim in September at Festival of New for a performance in Shadwell Opera's Eight Songs for a Mad King, acclaimed baritone Benedict Nelson stepped in with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in William Alwyn's Miss Julie in the role of Jean, and covered Demetrius in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Wiener Staatsoper. Benedict continued his relationship with English National Opera this season, returning to cover roles in The Mask Of Orpheus (Birtwistle) and Orphée (Glass)

In 2020, Benedict will perform Bach's St Matthew Passion with the Dunedin Consort (9 & 10 April), and return to the Irish National Opera (25-29 September) in their production of The Second Violinist in New York.

 

Baritone Christian Andreas began his Autumn season performing Händel’s Alexanderfest in Berlin before embarking on a tour in the UK and Sicily with Hampstead Garden Opera interpreting the role of Barone Douphol in Verdi’s La traviata.

Christian will be singing in the production of La Lune with Le Studio de l'Opéra de Lyon (14-22 March).

 

Tenor Nicholas Scott performed with Accademia dei DissonantiLe Poème Harmonique, Le Banquet Céleste, Les Arts Florissants as well as Les Ambassadeurs at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, interpreting Thepsis / Mercure in Rameau’s Platée in December.

Nicholas will tour and record Monteverdi’s Orfeo with Cappella Mediterranea in Versailles, performing in Anvers, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Opéra Royal - Château de Versailles (11, 17 & 18 January).

Bass-baritone Paul Carey Jones received rave reviews in The Scotsman and the Telegraph for his participation in the world premiere of the Prometheus Symphony with BBC Symphony Orchestra as part of the Lammermuir Festival, and made return appearances in Puccini’s Tosca, in the role of Sacristan, and covering Scarpia with Scottish Opera.

Exciting projects await Paul in the New Year as he will interpret again Wotan in Wagner’s Die Walküre at the Longborough Festival Opera (4-13 June), and L’Artiste in Delius's Margot la Rouge at the Opera Holland Park (21-31 July).

Counter-tenor Reginald Mobley made significant appearances this Autumn across Europe, the USA, and Asia.

Reginald made his debut with the renowned Balthasar-Neumann-Chor & Ensemble, Freiburger Barockorchester und Chor, at the Methodist International Church in Hong Kong with the MIC Messiah Singers and Orchestra, and returned to the Boston Handel + Haydn Society Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Masaaki Suzuki.

Next year, Reginald will make his debut in Australia with Bach Akademie Australia, and Canberra International Music Festival (1-10 May).

 

Julie Mathevet is looking forward to an exciting year with several performances in France.

Julie will sing in Lavandier’s L’Abrégé des Merveilles de Marco Polo with the Opéra de Rouen Normandie (26 & 27 May).
