CLB Management's 2019 Christmas Highlights: Instrumentalists
We at CLB would like to share some of our artists’ Autumn highlights of 2019, continuing with the Instrumentalists!
This season, we welcomed Dmitry Shishkin to our roster!
Harpsichordist and fortepianist Andreas Staier enjoyed an exciting autumn with back-to-back appearances in some of the great European halls with solo and trio recitals in France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Poland.
Andreas appeared as a soloist with both the Freiburger Barockorchester and Bremer Philharmoniker, performed Haydn's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in D Major Hob. XVIII with the latter as part of a programme entitled "Pure Haydn", which featured four of the composer's most popular works.
Exciting projects await in the New Year as Andreas takes to the Berlin Konzerthaus for a Schemelli lieder project (27 January), performs at the Opéra de Dijon (2 & 4 April), and gives a thrilling series of concerts in São Paulo, Brazil (21-28 June).
Following the release of “Zwischen Nostalgie und Revolution” in July and another successful season as Artistic Director of the Internationales Musikfestival Koblenz, cellist Benedict Kloeckner performed across Europe and the US this Autumn.
This included an appearance alongside the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, under the baton of Daniel Raiskin, performing Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto, as well as performing in a series of three curated concerts in Washington.
In 2020, Benedict returns to the US for performances with the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (25 January) and a solo recital in Baltimore (26 January).
Pianist Momo Kodama made two major appearances in France this Autumn.
In September, Momo performed three distinct recitals across the Festival “Muse & Piano” at the Louvre-Lens Museum, offering an innovative approach to the music of Chopin, and in November, she presented a programme of French music at the Philharmonie de Paris.
Momo starts the New Year on tour in Canada with her sister Mari (12 & 16 January), and with another tour in February, this time in Japan.
This Autumn, presenter Alasdair Malloy took his family concert programmes across the world!
“Symphony Safari”, appearing with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and British conductor Michael Seal, was presented in September in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Summon the Superheroes, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, received great acclaim in October.
And À vos marques!, in collaboration with the Orchestre de Picardie, was performed in Creil and Paris at the beginning of December.
Next year, Alasdair will make return appearances at the Hong Kong City Hall presenting The Incredible Voyage of Alasdair Malloy (10,11 & 12 January) and with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra performing three different programmes, Relaxed Concert: Global Explorers, Bugs!!, and Family Film Classics.
A busy Autumn saw Justin Taylor perform across France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, and the Netherlands.
In recital, Justin collaborated with Julien Chauvin in a programme of Mozart Violin and Piano Sonatas at Concerts d’Automne in Tours, and with violinist Théotime Langlois de Swarte for a programme of French music at the Philharmonie de Paris. As part of the Warsaw Philharmonic’s Simply Philharmonic! music series, he presented Bach’s masterwork the Goldberg Variations.
In addition, together with his ensemble, Le Consort, Justin released ‘Opus 1’ which was recently awarded the ‘Diapason d'or de l'année 2019'.
Justin follows this with an exciting collaboration with the Consone Quartet at LSO St Luke's as part of BBC Radio 3’s Lunchtime series (24 January), and performs in recital at L’Auditori in Barcelona (11 February).
