Tanguy de Williencourt collaborates with Ensemble Aedes and Yoan Héreau in the Lisztomanias Festival

on 23rd october, Tanguy de Williencourt collaborates in a concert for a cappella choir and piano four hands in the lisztomania festival in Châteauroux

In a letter to George Sand on 30th May 1844, Liszt wrote, ‘If you were still in Nohant in August, we could revive our old dream of a festival in Châteauroux’. Their idea for a festival came true when, in 2002, the Lisztomanias Festival was launched. Centred around this central figure of European Romanticism, Franz Liszt, the festival takes place every autumn to celebrate his works, influence, and humanist message. Alongside a series of concerts, The Liszt Academy leads masterclasses every morning throughout the Festival, which is central to Liszt’s own vision.

Following a day-time masterclass conducted by Bruno Rigutto on 23rd October, Tanguy de Williencourt joins Yoan Héreau and Ensemble Aedes, conducted by Mathieu Romano, to perform a selection of works by Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt, and Brahms. This programme is an evocation of the passion of love comparing the filiation of four composers of the Romantic period, around Brahms' famous love waltzes for choir and piano four hands.

ENSEMBLE AEDES

This ensemble of 17 professional singers, founded by Mathieu Romano in 2005, has established itself within a decade as one of France’s foremost choirs

Ensemble Aedes is known for exploring music from a number of different musical periods and this versatility is reflected in their frequent collaborations with artists from other backgrounds, such as dance, drama, and the visual arts. Likewise, the originality of their (semi-)staged performances is internationally recognised, and the group has performed in some of the world’s most distinguished opera houses and theatres.
