Quentin Hindley leads the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée as part of the Academy Festival d'Aix
This Saturday, 20 July, conductor Quentin Hindley leads the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée, an orchestra consisting of top-class young musicians from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, as part of the Academy Festival d’Aix. The Academy offers these young instrumentalists the opportunity to take part in coaching sessions, residencies, and concerts in a summer season that takes them on a tour of the south of France.
Making a stop in Ollioules, Quentin will present a programme including Gustav Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Johannes Brahms’s Symphony No. 2 in D major, and Cornu Luminis, a work by living composer and jazz trumpeter, Amir ElSaffar. The orchestra is joined by baritone John Chest, a former laureate artist of the Academy, and Amir ElSaffar himself on trumpet.
The concert takes place in the Amphithéâtre of the Châteauvallon, Scène Nationale in Ollioules, France at 22:00.
