Outstanding Baritone Josep-Ramon Olivé takes part in an exciting project as he performs as one of the two protagonists, “Tirant”, in the new chamber opera Diàlegs de Tirant e Carmesina by composer Joan Magrané and playwright Marc Rosich.

The world premiere of the chamber opera takes place on Thursday, 18 July (22:00) in the Carmen Cloister at the Festival Castell de Peralada, Spain.

The opera is based upon a medieval novel by Joanot Martorell and revolves around the highs and lows of the relationship between Tirant (Josep-Ramon Olivé) and Carmesina (Isabella Gaudí). In juxtaposition to the couple, two opposing figures, Pleasure-of-My-Life and the Placid Widow (both played by Anna Alàs Jové), also appear.

Magrané and Rosich use seduction and sensuality as the main themes propelling the dramatic mechanism of the opera, thereby creating a new, spectacular look at the medieval novel. This exciting opera libretto is accompanied by a musical setting of stunning medieval airs.
