Les Talens Lyriques and Jordi Savall featured in The Times’s “Album of the Week” section

Good news for two of our early music ensembles this week - both Les Talens Lyriques and Jordi Savall have been featured in The Times’sOn record” section for their latest CD releases.

Les Talens Lyriques’s album Tarare, named “Album of the Week” by The Times, concludes the group's cycle of Antonio Salieri's French operas. Often overlooked in favour of his contemporary Mozart, Salieri here composed a masterpiece that is exhilaratingly performed by Les Talens Lyriques and Les Chantres du Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles. In addition, the cast features Cyrille Dubois (Tarare), Karine Deshayes (Astasie), Jean-Sébastien Bou (Altar), Enguerrand de Hys (Calpigi), and Tassis Christoyannis (Arthenée).

“[…] This is brilliantly brought to life by Rousset and his cast […]”

Similarly, Jordi Savall and Le Concert des Nations’s take on Mozart’s final three symphonies as presented on the two-disc album Le Testament Symphonique, Symphonies 39, 40, 41 was received with great acclaim:

“[…] these are fine, big-boned accounts, Savall’s musicians relishing Mozart’s rigorous counterpoint, notably in the final fugue of No 41.”
