Jordi Savall honoured with Lifetime Membership by Melbourne Recital Centre on latest Australasian Tour

Following on from the success of Jordi Savall, Hespèrion XXI, and the Tembembe Ensamble's tour to Australia and New Zealand in February 2018 which saw them win the highly prestigious Helpmann Award for Best Instrumental Ensemble Concert, Jordi Savall returned to Australia and New Zealand last month for another hugely successful tour, this time paired with a series of concerts in China.

With performances at renowned venues and festivals including Beijing's Forbidden City, Tianjin Grand Theatre, Changsha Concert Hall, Castlemaine Festival, Melbourne Recital Centre, and Lake Wanaka Festival of Colour, Jordi Savall performed the programmes Tous Les Matins du Monde (from the soundtrack to the 1991 film of the same name) and Les Gôuts Réunis alongside Lorenz Duftschmid, Michael Behringer, and Xavier Díaz-Latorre.

A notable highlight of the tour was Jordi's induction as a Lifetime Member of Melbourne Recital Centre. This Membership program recognises extraordinary contributions made by individuals to Melbourne Recital Centre, and in 2019, the Centre wished to acknowledge those who have been important to its first decade of operation as a way to celebrate its 10th anniversary year.
