On Saturday, 23 November, at 20:30, Marzena Diakun will conduct the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France in a unique performance of Pierre Henry La Dixième Symphonie - Hommage à Beethoven at the Philharmonie de Paris.

In the late 1970s, Pierre Henry embarked on a challenging undertaking: to deconstruct Beethoven’s nine symphonies in order to develop a tenth, in a synthesis and transfiguration of the previous symphonies. Created on 25 October 1979, and revised in 1998, the symphonic version of this work is an extraordinary project: a large piece in homage to Beethoven, which requires three orchestras, three conductors, and a choir.

This concert provides the debut of Henry’s piece in its version for orchestra and choir, and involves the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre du Conservatoire de Paris, Choeur de Radio France and Jeune Choeur de Paris, conducted by Marzena Diakun, Bruno Mantovani, Pascal Rophé, and Richard Wilberforce, with the participation of tenor Benoît Rameau.
