Andreas Staier performs Haydn with the Freiburger Barockorchester
German harpsichordist and fortepianist Andreas Staier will perform with the Freiburger Barockorchester in Eisenstadt, Freiburg, and Stuttgart this week.
In the programme "Pure Haydn" featuring four of the composer's most popular works, keyboard virtuoso Andreas Staier will appear as soloist with the celebrated Freiburger Barockorchester and its concertmaster Petra Müllejans to perform Haydn's Piano Concerto no.11 in D major, Hob. XVIII:11 and his Variations in F minor Hob. XVII:6.
In addition, the programme will feature two of the six symphonies written for Paris in 1785/86: Symphony no.83 "La Poule" whose nickname is derived from a cackling theme in the first movement; and Symphony no.85 "La Reine" which contains variations on a French folk song which was a favourite of Queen Marie Antoinette.
