On Friday 18 October, conductor Julien Leroy will lead the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

They will present a programme including Éric Tanguy Matka and Smetana Má vlast (Moldau).

Commissioned to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Jean Sibelius, Tanguy's Matka is conceived as a voyage, geographical as much as interior, inspired by the wild beauty of Finnish nature. Tanguy's work deals with the perpetual renewal of elements, in the manner of his illustrious elder, seeking "proliferation and transformation rather than variation". Other scenery featured in this concert includes that of Smetana's Moldau, his famous symphonic poem, which takes the German name of the Vltava river that crosses Bohemia and Prague, heading onto the Elbe.
