Great success at Lammermuir Festival!

The Lammermuir Festival concluded on 23 September, marking its 9th year staging operas and instrumental concerts in several venues across the charming town of Haddington.

This season featured several CLB Artists, notably Quatuor Van Kuijk in their three-day residency featuring the works of Haydn, the Consone Quartet airing the lesser-known works of Haydn’s contemporary Boccherini, as well as Baritone Benedict Nelson and Tenor Ben Johnson’s performances in Scottish Opera’s semi-staged take on Britten’s second ‘church parable’ The Burning Fiery Furnace.

The latter has received excellent reviews with Rowena Smith of The Guardian praising the “strong singing from an excellent cast” in particular Ben Johnson who is “light voiced and agile as Nebuchadnezzar.” Simon Thompson from The Times was also impressed by Ben Johnson’s “aristocratic tenor” which gave the role “an imperious bearing.”

Well done to all CLB Artists on their performances at the Lammermuir Festival
