POLLOCK STRING QUARTET
String quartet
BIOGRAPHY
Formed in 2021, the Pollock Quartet specialises in both 20th and 21st century music.
First violin Alexandra Greffin-Klein and cellist Alexis Descharmes met in 2012 as members of the Ensemble Court-Circuit when they decided to form a duo and perform both contemporary and classical music together, including a cycle for violin and cello by French composer Philippe Hurel in 2014. Since then, their wish to form a string quartet has finally materialised after meeting brother and sister Apolline and Robin Kirklar.
The Pollock Quartet is now resident of the Musée Mer Marine in Bordeaux, as part of a collaboration with Collectif Le Page. They have just made a video recording of Elliott Carter’s 2nd string quartet. French composer Philippe Manoury has now been commissioned to write and dedicate his fifth quartet to the group, who will give its world premiere during the 24/25 season.
