NICHOLAS SCOTT MAKES HIS ITALIAN DEBUT, SINGING THE ROLE OF DON CARLOS IN THE THIRD ACT OF RAMEAU'S LES INDES GALANTES WITH FILARMONICA TOSCANINI AT TEATRO GALLI IN RIMINI
Jean-Philippe Rameau's ballet-héroique Les Indes Galantes was recognised from its debut in Paris in 1735 as a masterpiece and was also enthusiastically welcomed by Voltaire for the novelty of its conception. Resulting from the collaboration with the poet Louis Fuzélier, Les Indes Galantes is a work divided into a prologue and four entrées, each one imagined as an autonomous episode with which to re-propose the theme of love and war set in ever-changing scenarios - Turkey, Peru, Persia and North America - and with a critical look at the abuses perpetrated by Europeans on the peoples of the New World.
