Maxime Melnik makes his debut as Monostatos at the International Baroque & Romantic Opera Festival of Beaune

Maxime Melnik makes his debut as Monostatos in The Magic Flute at the International Baroque & Romantic Opera Festival of Beaune on Friday July 23rd.

This is a new production on period instruments which has been postponed from July 2020.

After conducting Idomeneo, The Marriage of Figaro, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, Jérémie Rhorer offers us, for the first time in Beaune, The Magic Flute.

Created two months before his death, The Magic Flute is a fairy tale about the elevation of human beings through wisdom, love and goodness to a higher morality corresponding to the ideas of the Enlightenment.

Anne Blanchard has assembled a dream cast of soloists with Matthew Newlin as Tamino, Mari Eriksmoen as Pamina, Sarah Traubel as the Queen of the Night, Riccardo Novaro as Papageno, and of course some prodigious young talents such as Gwendoline Blondeel as one of The Three Ladies and Maxime as Monostatos.
