Take a look ‘Into the Distance' to Christian Mason’s latest work
Christian Mason’s latest work Into the Distance for orchestra recently premiered at the Donaueschingen Musiktage 2021 with the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra. Many of his recent works often surround the idea of proximity – nearness or distance in space, time, and relationship. Into the Distance is a perfect play on the deployment of the instrumental ensemble in the performance space, and these spatial relationships inevitably have implications for the musical material and narrative.
“Somewhere in the distance (lost in the horizon)" by Christian Mason will surely also fascinate a Philharmonic audience with its finesse in spatial sound and its film music echoes of psychological thrillers, who mainly listen to Bruckner, Ravel, and Sibelius. - Frankfurter Allgemeine, Oct 2021
