Carducci Quartet joined by Simon Callow at the Barbican for Beethoven Weekender

On 1st and 2nd February, the Barbican Centre will play host to a series of concerts, discussions, and open rehearsals dedicated to celebrating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. The Carducci Quartet will perform the great composer’s groundbreaking development of the string quartet genre in concerts that will shine a spotlight on the man behind the music.

They will be joined by esteemed actor, Simon Callow CBE, who will recite extracts taken from Beethoven’s intensely passionate letters, providing the perfect counterpoint to some of his most profound and intimate compositions.
