The Carducci String Quartet releases new Shostakovich CD

In continuation of their Shostakovich15 project, in which the quartet marked the 40th anniversary of the composer's death by performing complete cycles of his quartets in Washington DC, London, Oxford, Cardiff and Bogotá, the Carducci String Quartet recently released their second disc in the series on the Signum Classics label.

This album contrasts Shostakovich's shorter 1st and 7th Quartets with the much heftier 2nd Quartet, and has already been received with great critical acclaim:
