Andreas Staier continued his Schubert residency at the Wigmore Hall this week, presenting the composer’s works for four hands with regular chamber music partner Alexander Melnikov. The programme was released for Harmonia Mundi in 2017 and can be heard below.
Here are some performances from our chamber ensembles to look forward to in the New Year:
Van Kuijk Quartet start the new season with two UK performances in the North of England at St George’s Hall, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, on 13 January, and Royal Northern College of Music, on 14 January, before departing for their tour of North America where they'll take part in their debut performance at The Lincoln Center, New York on 3 February.
One of our latest string quartets, Consone Quartet will perform a lunchtime concert at St Martin-in-the-Fields, London on 21 January. Followed by a concert at Holywell Music Room on 27 January, as part of Oxford Chamber Music Society’s Sunday afternoon concerts series and ending the month with a concert at the London School of Economics on 31 January, with flautist Jan de Winne. They will present the same programme with the addition of Mozart’s Flute Quintet at AMUZ, Antwerp in February, an exciting season ahead!
Notos Quartet will perform at Ultraschall Berlin on 18 January, as the festival celebrates their 20th anniversary. Later performing at Laeiszhalle in Hamburg on 22 February, before they embark on their debut tour in China in the Spring, followed by a debut tour in Japan in the Summer.
In February, Quatuor Voce will embark on their debut USA Tour including concerts in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida. In May, they will make their Australian debut at the Canberra International Chamber Music Festival.
Carducci String Quartet join forces with a number of guest musicians throughout the Spring season. Highlights include their series at Cadogan Hall, Guildford G Live, and Warwick Arts Centre with clarinettist Emma Johnson, a concert with the Britten Sinfonia as part of the Festival Musika-Música at Euskalduna Concert Hall, and a tour of Ireland from 21-24 March with Julian Bliss (with whom they recently released their latest disc of clarinet quintets).
