Jordi Savall receives the Helpmann Award for Best Instrumental Ensemble Concert!
Huge congratulations to Jordi Savall, Hesperion XXI, Tembembe Ensamble Continuo and the Perth Festival, on receiving this year's Helpmann Award for Best Instrumental Ensemble Concert - Jordi's third Helpmann Award! February 2018 saw Jordi and the ensembles tour Australia and New Zealand with the acclaimed Folias Antiguas & Criollas project. In addition to the Perth Festival, they performed at the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Recital Centre, New Zealand Festival and Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
Speaking on behalf of the festival, artistic director Wendy Martin commented "We were honoured to have [Jordi] as a guest of Perth Festival this year and to present an evening of such joyous music making. [The] concert with Hesperion XXI and Tembembe Ensamble Continuo was a potent reminder of how music can travese culture and time".
The highly prestigious Helpmann Awards are recognising distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in the many disciplines of Australia's vibrant live performance sectors.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
