Le Poème Harmonique open London Festival of Baroque Music with “exotically tinged court music”!
The acclaimed French ensemble, directed by Vincent Dumestre, presented “At The World’s Courts” depicting the influence of exoticism on French and European music in the 17th Century.
With the ‘Ballet des Nations’ from Lully’s popular opera Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme providing the musical backbone, the programme travelled from Europe to China, Africa and Arabia and was highly regarded by Ivan Hewitt in The Telegraph.
